Guideline for Presenter
Handouts
All presenters of oral
presentations are asked to provide a written text, summary or
other documentation of their presentation at the Conference. You
should give one copy of it to the Chairperson of your session.
Please also provide handouts for the audience, 15 to 20 copies
should do. Also, you should use PowerPoint for during your
presentation.
Papers
Papers are oral presentations
lasting 15 minutes, plus some time for questions. They will be
scheduled in 120 minute sessions which will normally include 8
papers on similar themes, in exceptional cases, 4 papers may be
combined.
The Programme committe will nominate a chairperson for each
session who will take care of time and manage discussion. Please
plan your presentation in a way to allow some questions within
your presentation time.
Research Workshops
A Research Workshop focuses on
methodological topics and may involve practical activity.
Workshops are submitted by one author plus up to 3 -7
co-authors. Normally one session (90 minutes) is scheduled for a
workshop and presenters will be asked to manage/chair their
session.
Round Tables
A Round Table usually involves 3
or 4 short, linked contributions from 3 different countries.
Bear in mind that the European/international dimension is very
important to the success of your submission. A Round Table is
submitted by one author plus up to 5 co-authors. Normally one
session (90 minutes) is scheduled for a Round Table and
presenters need to nominate a chairperson for their session.
Presenters should plan one hour for the presentation and a 30
minute discussion afterwards.
Symposia
Symposia consist of one or two 90
minute conference sessions organised by the submitters. They
usually include 3 – 5 papers per session plus a Discussant. An
symposium consists of a minimum of 3 papers; and in order to
guarantee a international perspective, at least three different
countries/national perspectives must be represented within the
papers presented in the symposium. The symposium needs to be
handed in as one submission with a description of the symposium
(500 words) and a list of all abstracts for all papers linked to
it (200 word abstract per paper).
A Chairperson and a Discussant, who can offer a critique of the
symposium as a whole, need also to be named on the proposal. The
proposer is responsible for communicating with all contributors
and with the conference secreteriat about the proposal. Four
weeks prior to the conference the proposer also needs to provide
the discussant with a full set of abstracts of papers within the
symposium.
Scheduling of Symposia
Symposia are scheduled throughout the conference. The last two
sessions are used as preferred options for symposium
presentations.
Symposia with more than 5 papers
When planning and submitting a symposium, please
be aware that the maximum number of papers within a symposium
session is 6, the minimum number is 3. If your symposium is
bigger than 5 papers, you need to hand in the symposium as two
parts and indicate in the title of the single parts, that they
belong together. The parts will be allocated in non-parallel
time slots. Plan all parts of the symposium according to the
conference guidelines with 3 countries represented in each
session.
Posters
Posters are graphical
presentations which will be displayed during the whole
conference and presented in a special Poster Session. A Poster
is submitted by one author plus up to seven co-authors.
Presenters will be asked to be available at the Poster session
to answer questions from other conference delegates. You will be
informed on the format and size of the poster when your
presentation is accepted.
Poster size
The poster size is A0, equals 118
cm height x 84 cm length, or smaller. Please choose upright
format and keep in mind that the font sizes should be big enough
to allow your poster to be read from some distance. We suggest
using a font size of 22 – 24 pt for texts and 60 – 70 pt for
headings.
You are kindly asked to bring
your poster fully assembled and printed. There will be no
possibility to print out on any larger formats at the
conference.
